Cooper Barnes is an American actor with a British origin. He is best known for portraying the character of Captain Man on Nickelodeon’s show “Henry Danger”. While his net worth remains officially undisclosed, there are some reports suggesting his worth is somewhere around the $10 million mark.
The early life of Cooper Barnes
His full name is Nick Cooper Barnes, although he only uses Cooper today. He was born on April 15th, 1979 in Sheffield, England. However, he soon moved with his family to the United States. They settled in the small suburban town of Northville, Michigan where he spent much of his childhood. As Cooper didn’t really speak much about it, not much is known about his early childhood, other than the fact that he attended Northville High School until 1997, when he graduated,
Soon after graduating, Barnes moved to Los Angeles to professionally pursue an acting career. In 2001, he gained his first movie appearance in a film called “Digging with Earnest”. Back in those days, he was credited as Nick Barnes. He initially used his first name but after a few years opted for Cooper Barnes, his middle name, for whom he is globally known today.
In the following years, he had guest appearances on a number of many notable tv shows. These include “Californication”, “Cold Case”, “Kicking It”, “Switched at Birth”, “Jessie”, and “Suburgatory”.
Cooper Barnes has also acted in a few indie movies. In 2010, he starred in “The Perfect Host” for which he received strong praise from critics for his acting skills. His movie repertoire includes “The Men’s Room” from 2012, “Defending Santa” from 2013 and “Sunken City” from 2014, where he had a leading role as a security officer. In addition, he did a bit of voice acting in “Escape from Planet Earth”, a blockbuster animated movie from 2013. During his career, Cooper has also done several short movies in his career, much of those which he both starred in and produced.
In 2014, he got his most important role yet – the role of Ray Manchester, also known as Captain Man, a local superhero who has a 13-year old sidekick Henry in a show called “Henry Danger”. The series is airing on Nickelodeon and is currently in its third season. Recently, it was renewed for a fourth season on November 16, 2016. The show is a regular favorite among children, even earning a nomination in the category for Favorite TV Show at the Kids’ Choice Awards 2015. Much of it is thanks to Cooper’s good-natured character and his likeable portrayal of the forever-immature superhero.
Apart from being an actor, Cooper Barnes is also a writer and a producer. He’s main writing credits go to a show called Pacino & Pacino Talent Agency (which he also edited and produced), short movies “A Toast To Green Lantern” and “Paranormalcy” and a TV movie “Loading Zone”. Cooper also took a shot at directing, directing two short movies.
Copper Barnes is married to Liz Stewart, a fellow actress and a comedian who is perhaps best known for her voice acting on an animated show “Happy Tree Friends”. He credits his wife for much of his success, being the one who always supported his work and believed in him. The two have been dating for over three years prior to getting married. They are in their second year of marriage and have just welcomed their first child this summer, a daughter named Ripley.
Cooper stands at 5 feet and 10 inches tall. As an actor, he is much more popular among children than adults, which is fairly reasonable given the scope of his work. Copper Barnes is the founding member of the Los Angeles-based sketch comedy group called Frog Island. His love of sketch comedy brought him many joy and opportunities as well, most notably being a recurring sketch player on Conan O’Brien’s late talk show.
What’s Cooper Barnes doing now? Will he continue in Henry Danger?
Despite his many talents in movie-making, Cooper Barnes is keeping his focus on acting, continuing the work on television. Most recently, he made a guest appearance in “The Mindy Project”, while being busy with shooting new episodes of the hit show “Henry Danger”. Knowing his love for indie movies, it’s only fair to say we can expect to see Cooper in another indie movie or a short feature sometime soon.
