Tara Strong is a Canadian–American actress, a veteran of the voice acting scene with almost 20 years of experience in the business. She is known as the voice of many cartoon characters, perhaps best known for her work as Dil Pickles in “Rugrats” (1990), as Bubbles in “The Powerpuff Girls” (1998) and Timmy Turner in “The Fairly OddParents” (2001).

Early life of Tara Strong
Tara was born on February 12, 1973, in Toronto, Canada to Syd and Lucy Charendoff. She was raised in Toronto, along with her older sister Maria and spent her childhood there. At the early age of four, she expressed an interest in acting and started working with school productions and various theaters, including the Yiddish Theater and Toronto Jewish Theater. At 13 years old, she was accepted into a performing arts school. Soon, she received she landed her first professional role: the role of Gracie in the Limelight Theater’s production of “The Music Man”.
Career & her role as Bubbles in Powerpuff Girls
In 1986, the same year Tara Strong landed her first professional role, she booked a guest starring role in Mr. T’s “T. and T”. However, her first major role was the main role in the cartoon “Hello Kitty’s Furry Tale Theater”. She also starred in the short-lived CBC Television sitcom “Mosquito Lake”, before deciding to move to Los Angeles during the 1994 Northridge earthquake.
The move proved to be the right decision as it opened many doors for Tara. She starred in a few TV series and indie movies before focusing on voice acting. At that time, she was formerly known as Tara Charendoff. Her current name is due to her marriage to Craig Strong.
In the following years, leading all the way to the present, Tara Strong has been a mainstay in various animated shows. Some of her roles include “Fillmore!” as Ingrid Third; “The Fairly OddParents” as Timmy Turner and Poof; “Rugrats” and All “Grown Up!” as Dil Pickles; “The Powerpuff Girls” as Bubbles; “Ben 10” as Ben Tennyson, Upgrade, Blitzwolfer, and Buzzshock; “Teen Titans” and “Teen Titans Go”! as Raven; the singing voice of Meg Griffin, as well as additional voices on Family Guy; “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic” as Twilight Sparkle and many others.
She has provided voice acting for characters in the English-language localizations of cult Japanese anime such as “Spirited Away” and “Princess Mononoke”. Her portfolio also includes a number of original Disney productions, such as “The Legend of Tarzan”, “Lilo & Stitch: The Series”, “The Lion King: Simba’s Mighty Adventure”, “The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea” and others.
Tara Strong is no stranger to video games, lending voice to characters in “Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops”, “Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker”, “Final Fantasy X” and its sequel “Final Fantasy X-2”, “Kingdom Hearts II”, “Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction” and the sequel “Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty”; Harley Quinn in “Batman: Arkham City” where she replaced Arleen Sorkin, “Mortal Kombat X” and many more.
As for the live-action part of her career, she made guest appearances on such shows as “Forever Knight”, “Street Legal”, “Touched by an Angel”, “Take Home Chef”, “Party of Five”, “Kung Fu: The Legend Continues”, “3rd Rock from the Sun” and “Melissa & Joey” among others. Tara has also appeared in a few movies, including “National Lampoon’s Senior Trip”, “Sabrina Goes to Rome”, “Sabrina”, “Down Under” and “The Last White Dishwasher”.
Awards and nominations
She won an Interactive Achievement Award in 2004 for her role as Rikku in “Final Fantasy X-2” video game. Tara Strong has been nominated five times for Annie Awards, given to those with accomplishments in animation. The Behind the Voice Actors website selected her for a BTVA Voice Acting Award for Voice Actress of the Year for 2013, nominating her for the previous two years.
Tara Strong is married to Craig Strong, a former American actor-turned real estate agent whom she met in 1999. They married a year later and have two sons together: Sammy (born 2002) and Aden (born 2004). She resides in Los Angeles with her family and her two dogs, Abby and Baci. Together with her husband, Tara runs VoiceStarz, an Internet-based company that educates people on how to get into the voice-over business.
Tara is Jewish and a devoted vegetarian, having grown up following the kosher dietary laws. She said one of her favorite characters is Melody in “The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea”.
What’s Tara Strong doing now?
Continuing the management of her company, Tara Strong is also busy with her ever-present voice work. She has a recurring role as Twilight Sparkle in “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic”. The character will also appear in the “My Little Pony: The Movie”, coming out next year. She has finished recording her lines as Harley Quinn once again in the upcoming “Injustice 2” video game. The audience will have the opportunity to hear her in two new animation movie: “Animal Crackers” as Talia and “Charming” as Matilija Chief. Both movies are slated for a release next year.
