Tom Kenny is an American actor, comedian, singer, and voice actor who is most famous for playing the voice of SpongeBob Squarepants in the long-running hit animated TV show of the same title.
He was also the voice behind the narrator and Mayor of the equally successful Cartoon Network hit show Powerpuff Girls.

Born Thomas James Kenny in Syracuse, New York on July 13, 1962, Tom Kenny enjoyed collecting records, drawing funny pictures, and reading comic books as a young child. He was childhood friends with legendary stand-up comedian Bobcat Goldthwait.

Tom Kenny began his career as a stand-up comedian in Boston and San Francisco during the 1980s. He started working as an actor in 1989, via a movie called How I Got Into College. In the same year, he was tapped to play the role of Pinocchio in Kashi no ki Mokku (Pinocchio: The Series).

Tom Kenny began playing the titular role of SpongeBob SquarePants in 1999, but SpongeBob isn’t the only popular character that the actor lends his voice to.

Tom Kenny was also a regular on the show called The Edge on Fox TV, and worked as a host of NBC’s Friday Night for an entire year.
He also made appearances in The Brotherly Love, and The Preston Episodes, and later on joined the cast of Mr. Show with Bob and David.
Tom Kenny was also involved in The Mark Thomas Comedy Product, The Show with Two Heads, and later on, HBO’s Not Necessarily the Election.

Before his career as a voice actor took off, Tom Kenny had a very active musical career. He was the lead vocalist for a band called The Tearjerkers, based off his hometown in Syracuse, New York.
